Biridihi village community gets water in summer
MULTIMEDIA
Water in the only village pond in Biridihi village dried up every year between April to June. When it rained, they got water up to four feet high. Gram Vikas helped mobilise the support of HDFC Bank Ltd. to fund pond rejuvenation. The 171 households in the village came together and contributed their labour. Today, the village uses the water from this pond to irrigate their fields during the drought season. Water availability has given rise to new livelihoods such as pisciculture.
